Konami recently released the latest base set for Yu-Gi-Oh! Game TCG, The Forbidden InfinityThis set offers a lot for duelists to look out for.
There’s new support for Exodia, increased support for Memento, new support for Tenpai, the world premiere of the Mimighoul archetype, the introduction of Fiendsmiths to the TCG, and much more.
Konami was kind enough to send me a box of The Infinite Forbidden to open. You can watch the video below, where I share my thoughts.
I’ll be honest, when it was first announced I was excited for Exodia support. I’ve always wanted to find a way to make that deck viable, so I’m always curious to see what the new support can do for it.
Then I felt discouraged by the reveal of the Fiendsmith information because they are so strong that they probably won’t change the metagame in the way I prefer.
Luckily, I’m pretty excited about non-Fiendsmith cards and my local cards aren’t super competitive, so the other archetypes, including Mimighoul, get me excited.
There is also a semi-controversial card in The Forbidden Infinity although: Mulcharmy Purulia. Many people see this as a Maxx “C” discount that will wreak havoc on the format. Personally, I don’t think that’s true. I think Purulia will have an impact, but I don’t think it will be as toxic as many people think.
There are some limitations, such as the fact that it can only be activated by summons from your hand, during the End Phase you must shuffle the cards if you meet the criteria and you cannot control any cards. Basically, this card is only usable on the first turn, unless your opponent clears your board.
In short, while I agree with many that Fiendsmiths are ridiculously powerful, there are a lot of other cards I’m excited about. I also wish Konami would revisit the ways rarities are handled in the TCG to be more similar to the OCG. I think The Forbidden Infinity It’s a solid set.
As always, let me know in the comments which cards excite you the most and what your draws are.
