Interesting Trailer for Four-Part Baseball Docuseries CHARLIE HUSTLE & THE MATTER OF PETE ROSE

HBO has released the trailer for a four-part baseball documentary series titled Charlie Hustle and the Pete Rose Question.

In 1989, Major League Baseball (MLB) legend Pete Rose was banned for life from the sport of baseball after an MLB investigation revealed that he had bet on games during his tenure as manager of the Cincinnati Reds.

Charlie Hustle and the Pete Rose Question takes “a retrospective journey, spanning more than 60 years, to tell the story of baseball’s all-time wins leader, whose on-field successes and off-field transgressions made him one of the most divisive figures in all of sports.”

The documentary series features “new, intimate interviews and verité footage with Pete Rose, chronicling his life and career in baseball. Extensive archival footage and contextual interviews with teammates, family, friends and journalists detail Rose’s heroic rise and subsequent exile from the game and, years later, his bid for reinstatement and a spot in the National Baseball Hall of Fame.

“Brash and arrogant, Rose earned the nickname ‘Charlie Hustle’ for his tenacity, winning three World Series titles and breaking Ty Cobb’s record for most career hits. However, his off-the-field troubles would eventually land him in prison for tax evasion and get him kicked out of baseball for gambling, leaving a permanent stain on the game.

Charlie Hustle and the Pete Rose Question is directed and produced by Mark Monroeand will debut July 24 on HBO followed by episode two. Episodes three and four will debut July 25 at the same time. All four episodes will be available to stream Wednesday, July 24 on Max.
