Trailer for Lee Daniels’ Exorcism Horror Film THE DELIVERANCE; Netflix Paid M for Rights

Netflix has released the first trailer for its upcoming horror thriller The LibertyThe streaming giant paid $65 million for the rights to this film in a fierce bidding war.

There were a lot of studios that wanted to get their hands on this thing, but Netflix won in the end. The movie is said to be based on the true story of a horrific exorcism, and after watching the trailer, I think it looks like your average exorcism movie.

I’m not sure what all the hype is about this movie, but there must be more to it than what’s shown in the trailer.

Daniel Lions (Precious, The Butler) directed the film and for him it is definitely a different genre to act in.

In the film, “Ebony Jackson, a struggling single mother battling her own personal demons, moves her family into a new home for a fresh start. But when strange events inside the home raise the suspicions of Child Protective Services and threaten to tear the family apart, Ebony soon finds herself embroiled in a battle for her life and the souls of her children.”

The movie stars Omar Epps, Glenn Close, Demi Singleton, Miss Lawrence, by Anthony B. Jenkins Andra Day, Mo’Nique, Aunjanue Ellis, Caleb McLaughlin AND Tasha Smith.

The film will hit select theaters on August 16 and Netflix on August 30.
