NEXT Star Maika Monroe says sequel will be ‘bigger, darker and messier’

Maika Monroe is ready to resume her role as writer and director David Robert Mitchell’S Continued Continuation.

This was the role that made Monroe stand out, and she is thrilled to return for the sequel and work with Mitchell again.

Monroe plays Jamie “Jay” Height, a teenager haunted by a supernatural entity that attaches itself to her after her first sexual encounter.

During a recent interview with Collider, the actress spoke about the director and her thoughts on the sequel.

Monroe said: “David is brilliant. I mean, he’s brilliant. The whole movie transformed at that point. He was changing the game in the genre and would never have made a sequel if he didn’t think it would be the best.

He went on to say that he read the script he wrote and how excited he is about the film: “It’s very specific, it rejects so many…

“He just knows what he wants to do and what he wants to accomplish. I mean, at first I’m like, ‘Oh, a sequel? Where are we going to go here?’ And I read it, and it’s so damn good. It’s so good. I’m so excited.”

She chimed in to tease what we can get from the sequel, saying, “I think where you meet Jay at this point is maybe not what you expect, but it’s awesome.”

Monroe continued to hype the project by saying: Obviously, like everyone says about sequels, literally, though, it’s just bigger and darker and messier. Reading it was the craziest thing ever.

“I’m so excited for this role. I haven’t been this excited to delve into anything in a long time. There’s a lot to play with, and I think it’s going to be incredibly challenging, sure, but very rewarding. Working with David, I can’t wait.”

The first film didn’t quite impress me like many other horror fans. I love horror movies, but I found myself laughing out loud Continued because I thought the concept was funny. I don’t think that was the intent, but the film certainly didn’t scare me.

Did you like the first film and are you excited about the sequel?
