Margaret Ridley once again shared his support to see John Boyega reprise his role as Finn in the next Lucasfilm film Star Wars movie.
During a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, the actress was asked if Finn could return in the upcoming film, set 15 years later The Rise of Skywalker.
She responded by saying, “Absolutely, of course. It seems like we should, yes.”
Since the film sees Rey rebuilding the Jedi order, it would make sense to see Finn join her on her journey after what they’ve been through together. There’s a lot of unfinished business with the character, especially the fact that she’s Force-sensitive.
I have to say that the character’s story should have played out much more differently than it did. The creative teams behind these films took Finn’s story in the wrong direction.
There have been rumors that Boyega might return for this new film, and Ridley was asked at one point if Finn could finally become a Jedi in the film if he returned, and she replied, “That’s above my level.” of remuneration. I’d like to see it, but it’s not a decision for me.
A few years ago, when asked if he would return to the franchise, Boyega said, “Lol, no thanks. I’ve moved on. I won’t be playing a role for too long. I have more to offer than that.”
The actor then changed his tune, saying, “It happened a few years ago, so they were the subject of that particular project. But I’m open to any characters and scripts that are funny, have a great cast and a great director. So yes, I’m open to all opportunities.
The Rey Skywalker film is directed by Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy from a screenplay written by Steven Knight. The film will be set fifteen years after the events of The Rise of Skywalker. All we know about the story so far is that Rey will be a “powerful Jedi master” who runs her own training academy.
Ridley previously said that the new story is “not what I expected” and “something very special,” and recently said that the whole idea of the film is “dead gorgeous.”
