A new report has emerged that crunched the numbers on some of the biggest superhero movie bombs, and it turns out that Marvel The wonders lost more money than expected. He ended up losing more money than The flash.
While the first Captain Marvel The film grossed over $1 billion at the box office, The Marvels only grossed $206.1 million globally. According to Deadline, when all was said and done, the film posted a net loss of $237 million!
This kind of loss definitely hurts, but I don’t think we’ve seen the last of these characters. I just don’t think they’ll ever star in their own movie again. Going forward, they will probably only be used in group films.
Monica’s story will continue at some point in a Multiversal story after landing in the same reality as the X-Men. It is said that a variant of Ms. Marvel will next appear in the Marvel Zombies animated series. As for Captain Marvel, her story will most likely continue in the next Avengers films.
As for The flash, grossed $271.3 million worldwide and posted a net loss of $155 million. The most successful superhero film of 2023 was Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, which made a profit of $124 million.
CEO of Disney Bob Iger he previously attributed the failure of The Marvels to the lack of supervision he received during its making. He said: “Quality needs attention. … It doesn’t happen by accident.”
And he adds: “Quantity, in our case, is diluted quality. There wasn’t a lot of supervision on set… where we have managers who really control what gets done.”
But, let’s be honest, executives rarely make a movie better. Most of them are not very creative or talented. They are there to keep the budget and production under control.
Audiences are very wary of superhero movies these days, but I think Deadpool and Wolverine will overcome this obstacle. Marvel Studios has a big hit on their hands with that movie!
