George Miller has already teased Max Rockatansky’s appearance in Furiosa: A Mad Max Sagaand in a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, he shares some additional details about this and why he included it.
It is explained that Max will make a brief cameo alongside his iconic car, The Interceptor. This was done to remind audiences of the franchise’s timeline.
Miller explained: “Doing what we did in the preparation of Mad Max: Road Furywe also wrote about what happened to Max the year before we met [that film].”
He added: “And as we get closer to the end of this movie, the timeline… Basically, we had to see that Mad Max was lurking somewhere because we know what happened.”
The director went on to say, “The writers know what happened to Mad Max that year before, and we have a whole story about it, which I would love to do sometime if I get the chance.”
So, it looks like Miller already has another movie lined up with Max if he gets the opportunity to make another one of these epic films!
In the film, “As the world fell apart, young Furiosa is kidnapped from the Green Place of Many Mothers and falls into the hands of a great horde of bikers led by the warlord Dementus.
“Crossing the Wasteland they come across the Citadel presided over by Immortal Joe. As the two Tyrants fight for dominance, Furiosa must survive many trials as she scrapes together the means to find her way home.”
Miller has spoken out before Furisoa and revealed that the story takes place over the course of 15 years and leads directly to the events of Mad Max: Road Fury.
Miller shared, “The story is the saga of Furiosa, and how she gets taken away from home and spends the rest of her life trying to get back. [In] Way of Fury, the story takes place over three days and two nights. This film follows the story as it intertwines directly Way of Furyfor 15 years.”
He went on to say that, “It’s a different animal. It has many different positions. It’s an odyssey. No questions asked.” As for a possible appearance by Max Rockatansky himself, Miller said: “I won’t give too much away about it. All I’ll say is that Max is lurking in the background.”
It’s also in the cast Anya Taylor-Gioia, Chris Hemsworth, Tom Burke, Angus Sampson, Nathan Jones, Daniel Webber, Lachy HulmeAND Quaden Bayles.
Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga will be released in theaters on May 24, 2024.
