Jim Henson: the man of ideas is a documentary directed by Ron Howard and I simply can’t wait. This morning Disney announced the release date of May 31st this year. The document covers all the good and bad of the true visionary life.
Variety was able to sit down with Lisa Henson, CEO of Jim Henson Co, and discuss what she thinks of the documentary.
If there was to be a definitive documentary about Jim Henson, we hoped it would be in the hands of an experienced filmmaker. Ron Howard is a perfect fit both creatively and personally for my father, unlike anyone else we could have contemplated,
I’m happy that the company created by Jim and Jane Henson supports this documentary. As much as we would like to think that Jim’s life was all sunshine and roses, this film delves deep into the darker side of the man. He understood his struggles with being a workaholic and the multiple affairs that ultimately ended his marriage to Jane.
I love everything about Henson. From the Muppets to Dark crystal, Fraggles TO Labyrinth and who could forget Sesame StreetI’ll always be a fan of those.
The stories and characters have left an indelible mark on my heart. Luckily, I was able to pass that love on to my children, and hopefully, they carry this magic to theirs.
This will bring laughter and tears to all who love the magic this man and his imagination brought to us. Let us know what you think.
