Netflix has released the trailer of its upcoming Indian series Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar, a great Indian series for the streamer. It’s a sweeping epic story of revolution.
Heeramandi tells the story of “Mallikajaan (Manisha Koirala) ruling an elite house of courtesans, as the country’s independence movement gathered momentum.”
The film is directed by director Sanjay Leela Bhansali, who says, “This is a story of love, power, freedom and extraordinary women, their desires and their struggles. It marks a new milestone in my journey.”
He added: “In Netflix we have found the ideal partner: someone who not only shares our love of storytelling, but also has the unprecedented ability to bring our series to the most diverse and global audience imaginable.”

The series appears to have great production value, and the trailer highlights expansive sets, rich music, and elaborate costumes.
The series will premiere on May 1.
