Martin Scorsese is teaming up with Fox Nation for a new docu-drama series titled Martin Scorsese presents: The Saints. The eight-episode series will be hosted, narrated and produced by Scorsese.
Each episode of the series will explore the stories of eight characters on their journey to sainthood. The series will focus on Joan of Arc, Francis of Assisi, John the Baptist, Thomas Becket, Mary Magdalene, Moses the Black, Sebastian and Maximilian Kolbe.
Scorsese said in a statement: “I have lived with the stories of saints for much of my life, thinking about their words and actions, imagining the worlds they inhabited, the choices they faced, the examples they set. These are the stories of eight very different men and women, each living in very different historical periods and struggling to follow the path of love revealed to them and to us by the words of Jesus in the gospels. I’m so excited that this project is underway and that I’m working with so many trusted and talented collaborators.
The series was developed by Scorsese for Lionsgate Alternative Television and was created by Matt Leshem. Martin Scorsese presents: The Saints it is written by Kent Jones and directed by Elizabeth Chomko.
