Smallville stars Michael Rosenbaum AND Tom Welling There’s been talk of developing a sequel animated series for years. This is a project that fans would like to see come to fruition one day, but it has yet to move forward.
During a recent interview with Screen Rant, Rosenbaum offered an update on the project that would reunite the original cast and creators of the show that launched in 2001. He said:
“All I can share is that it’s a great idea. We have Al [Gough] and miles [Millar], the creators of Smallville, support us. When the time is right, we would like to go and do this: pitch to Warner Bros. It has to be the right time, and now is not the right time.
He went on to explain:
“We had the strike, we changed executives at DC, one of whom was one of my best friends in the world, James Gunn. When the time is right, I think it’s something that will be a no-brainer unless they have other ideas. We’d love to do it, the whole cast would love to do it.”
Rosenbaum also shared that he had “an idea of what the show is” and talked about it with the entire cast Smallville “they would give voice to their own character on the show.”
With one of his best friends running DC Studios, it looks like this Smallville animated project will get made one day. It’s just a matter of time. But, when the opportunity presents itself and the time is right, Rosenbaum and Welling will jump at the chance to make it happen.
The original series starred Rosembaum as Lex Luthor, Welling as Clark Kent, Kristin Kreuk as Lana Lang, Eric Johnson, Sam Jones III, Allison Mack, Annette O’Toole, John Schneider, John Glover, Jensen Ackles, Erica Durance, Justin HartleyAND Callum Blueamong many others.
