Jeff Goldblum stars as Zeus in the teaser trailer for Netflix’s KAOS

Netflix has released a teaser trailer for a funny looking mythological dark comedy series titled Kaoswhat stars Jeff Goldblum like Zeus, the king of the gods. “Almighty, cruel, sometimes benevolent…he has no idea that the plot to bring him down has begun.”

The film is described as a “modern and contemporary retelling of Greek mythology”. The series revolves around six humans who discover their connection to each other and to a long-standing ancient prophecy while dealing with the corrupt and arrogant gods of Greek mythology.

In the series, “Zeus has long enjoyed his status as King of the Gods. Until he wakes up and discovers a wrinkle on his forehead. Neurosis takes over, leading him down a dangerous and paranoid path. Zeus becomes convinced that his downfall is imminent and begins to see signs of it everywhere. Zeus’ once-trustworthy brother, Hades, god of the underworld, is secretly losing control of his dark domain. There is a backlog of dead waiting to be processed and they are getting restless. Era (Janet McTeer), Queen of the Gods, exercises dominion over the Earth – and Zeus – in her own unique way.

But “her power and freedom are threatened by Zeus’ growing paranoia, and she is forced to act, while Zeus’ rebellious son, Dionysus, (Nabhaan Rizwan), is out of control and on track for a cosmic collision with his father. On Earth people crave change, yet Poseidon (Cliff Curtis), God of the sea, storms and earthquakes (and horses) is more interested in the size of his super-yacht and where the next party will be held. The well-being of ordinary mortals interests him little…”

The film comes from Charlie Covellthe writer of The end of the fucking world and the producers of Chernobyl. The rest of the cast includes David Thewlis like Hades, Killian Scott like Orpheus, Debi Mazar like Medusa, e Nabhaan Rizwan like Dionysus. Plus four other mortals: Riddy (Aurora Perrineau), Orpheus (Killian Scott), Caneus (Misia Butler) and Ari (Leila Farzad).

Kaos will be released on Netflix this summer, but no exact date has been set yet.
