COYOTE VS. ACME writer Samy Burch says negotiations are underway with the studio regarding the film’s release

The last film to hit the cutting room floor at Warner Bros. was the hybrid animated/live-action film, Coyotes vs. Acme, a new take on the classic cartoon characters we grew up with. The cast and creators who got to see the film were thrilled with its story and said it would be a big hit among fans, but alas, it fell victim to WB’s recent hits on the completed films they decided to make with the incentive to do so. make them a tax write-off instead of just releasing what was done.

Even though we were told the deal was done, the film’s screenwriter, Samy Burchrevealed in a recent interview that everyone involved with the film remains hopeful that the film will somehow make it to a general release, saying:

“As far as I know, it’s ongoing. I think we’re all pretty heartbroken about it. Hopefully it somehow finds its home and doesn’t end up stuck in a vault for the rest of time. That would be a great solution.”

Burch also said that the projections of Coyotes vs. Acme were still ongoing, also touting his love for the film and its cast:

“I know they screened the places and I think they still do. I hope I can say that. I’m being completely dishonest here. It’s just the best group of people. Dave Green, who directed it, I love Will Forte so much he is Amazing in the movie. I’ve seen the final cut of the completed film and I’m very proud of it.”

Director Dave Green he had previously shared similar thoughts via his official social media account, expressing his sorrow over the project that may never be seen by the general public:

“For three years I was lucky enough to make a film about Wile E. Coyote, the most tenacious, passionate and resilient character of all time. I was surrounded by a brilliant team, who put their soul into this project for years. We were all determined to honor the legacy of these historical figures and do them really well. Along the way, we were greeted by a test audience that rewarded us with fantastic scores. I’m more than proud of the final product, and more than devastated by the WB decision. But in the spirit of Wile E. Coyote, resilience and tenacity win the day.”

Do you still hold out hope that this film will be released? I hope, above all for the sake of the people who made it, to see it published. My kids would love it, and if it’s as good as they say, I think I’d enjoy it too!
