This is well known to fans Christopher Walken he was one of many actors who auditioned for the role of Han Solo in George Lucas’ Star Wars. During a recent interview with Vanity Fair, the actor reflected on his experience auditioning for the film and how he auditioned with him. Jodie Foster.
“I think it was for Han Solo. Yes, I auditioned for that. And if I’m not mistaken, my audition partner was – I think it’s true – Jodie Foster… I think we did a screen. I’m not sure we did a scene. Maybe we just sat in front of those old video cameras back then… I auditioned for Star Wars, but so did 500 other actors. There were a lot of people who do that.”
Foster recently talked about her audition for Star Wars and how she was actually offered the role of Princess Leia, but had to turn it down. She said:
“They wanted to cast a younger Princess Leia, but I had a conflict. I was doing a Disney movie and I didn’t want to back out of the Disney movie because I was already under contract… And they did a fantastic job.” . I don’t know how good I would have been. I could have had different hair. I could have chosen a pineapple. “
Somewhere in an alternate universe, there’s a version of Star Wars starring Christopher Walken as Han Solo and Jodie Foster as Princess Leia. It’s hard to imagine anyone else in these roles, but it makes you wonder how Star Wars and its fandom would have been very different with other actors in these iconic roles.
