Here are some surprising news! AMC’s supernatural anthology series The terror has been renewed for a third season! The announcement comes five years after the end of season two, and I never thought we’d see another season.
The next episode of the series is titled The Terror: Devil in Silver and the six-part series is based on the novel The devil in silverwritten by Victor LaValle. He is writing the series together Chris Cantwellwho served as showrunner on AMC’s tech drama Stop and catch fire.
The Terror: Devil in Silver tells the story of Pepper, “a working-class mover who, through a combination of bad luck and bad temper, finds himself unjustly committed to the New Hyde Mental Hospital – an institution full of people society would rather forget. There he will have to deal with patients who work against him, doctors who hide dark secrets and perhaps even the devil himself. As Pepper makes his way through a hellish landscape where nothing is as it seems, he discovers that the only path to freedom is to face the entity that thrives on suffering within the walls of New Hyde. But doing so might prove that the worst demons of all live inside him.
Well, it looks like it’s going to be a fascinating and twisted story! Yellow jackets AND Jennifer’s body director Karyn Kusama will direct the first two episodes and will be the executive producer of the series.
Dan McDermott, president of entertainment and AMC Studios for AMC Networks, shared in a statement: “The Terror anthology series has already delivered fans two unforgettable seasons of storytelling that blend real-world events and characters with a terrifying and mysterious supernatural element . The devil in silver offers a perfect opportunity for a new installment of this popular and critically acclaimed anthology. We look forward to working once again with Chris Cantwell, with whom we have collaborated so successfully Stop and catch fireVictor LaValle, Karyn Kusama and this amazing team of producers to share our take on Victor’s much-heralded and disturbing novel.”
The first season of the series was based on Dan Simmons’ and the story was set on the freezing decks of a Victorian-era sailing ship on a doomed course. The second season is titled The Terror: Infamy and that season centers on a malevolent and shape-shifting force that is locked up alongside prisoners in a Japanese internment camp.
Are you excited to hear that we’re getting another season of The terror!? What do you think of the story it will tell?
