Netflix has released the first teaser trailer for their adapted series Ripleybased on the author Patricia Highsmith classic thriller novel, The talented Mr. Ripley, from which a 1999 film of the same name was adapted. This series will delve even deeper into the story and feature an Emmy nominee Andrea Scott (Sherlock, Bag of fleas, All of us foreigners), Dakota Fanning (I’m Sam, The alienist), AND Johnny Flynn (Emma., The clothing), as well as Pasquale Esposito, Franco Silvestri, Eliot SumnerAND John Malkovich.
The series is written and directed by the Oscar-nominated director Steven Zaillian. The synopsis reads:
“In the series, Tom Ripley, a con man living in New York in the early 1960s, is hired by a wealthy man to travel to Italy to try to convince his drifter son Dickie Greenleaf to return home. Tom’s acceptance of the job is the first step towards a complex life of deceit, fraud and murder. Meanwhile, Marge Sherwood, an American living in Italy, suspects that there are darker motives behind Tom’s affability.
It looks pretty good. The film was excellent, but it might be interesting to see the expanded version with more detail and story to explore. Check out the trailer below and watch Ripley on Netflix April 4.
