With Steven Yeun abandon Marvel Lightning movie, the studio is looking to replace him and, according to a couple of Hollywood insiders, an offer has been made Euphoria actor Austin Abrams. If he accepts the role, he will take on the role of The Sentry.
The scoop on the duel comes from r/DCULeaks and Daniel Richtman, who says: “In collaboration with @DanielRPK, we can report that Austin Abrams has the current offer for Sentry in ‘THUNDERBOLTS’.”
Abrams, also appeared in Guillermo del Toro-horror film produced, Scary stories to tell in the dark. It was previously reported that The Sentry will be part of Val’s Thunderbolts team and will be involved in the first two acts before “something tears him away from them.”
Thunderbolts cast includes Sebastiano Stan as Bucky Barnes who will lead the team, Davide Porto in the role of the Red Guardian, Julie Louis-Dreyfus as Countess Valentina Allegra de Fontaine, Wyatt Russell as a US agent, Hannah John-Kamen in the role of Ghost, Olga Kurylenko as Taskmaster and of course Florence Pugh in the role of Elena Belova. Then, there is Harrison Fordwho takes on the role of General Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross, who will become President of the United States in Captain America: New World Order. Ayo Edebiri he also joined the cast in an undisclosed role.
The film is directed by Jake Schreier (Paper cities, joke), from a screenplay by Eric Pearson (Thor: Ragnarok, Black Widow) AND Kurt Busiek. Thunderbolts is currently scheduled to release in theaters on July 25, 2025.
