Hannah Waddingham and Octavia Spencer team up for an action-adventure series on Amazon Prime Video

Hannah Waddingham (Ted Lasso) AND Octavia Spencer (The help) are teaming up on an upcoming action-adventure series being developed at Amazon Prime Video. The show is based on an original idea from the executive producer Tessa Coates (Feel good, The youth).

Skydance Television is behind the show, along with Andy and Barbara Muschietti’s Double Dream and Spencer’s Orit Entertainment. The untitled series will produce eight episodes for the streamer. Given the associated star power, the project was the subject of a major bidding war: at least six streamers are believed to have bid, with four purchasing the show in the room, until it landed on Amazon.

In the show, Waddingham plays Judith, who has secretly been working as a highly trained assassin. It’s a double life that Judith’s best friend Debbie (played by Spencer) knows nothing about, until a hit goes wrong. Now Judith and Debbie are on the run, aiming to stay one step ahead of a mysterious enemy. And as they try to figure out what’s going on, they also have to fix their broken friendship.

Spencer said of the project:

“I walked in as soon as I heard Tessa’s amazing presentation. Being able to immerse yourself in a role like Debbie is rare and working with Hannah to bring this unique friendship to life is a dream. We knew we had something special with Skydance and Double Dream and now that we have a home on Amazon, our vision has become a reality.”

Waddingham added:

“I’m not going to lie, a few expletives fell off my face at the prospect of working with the magnificent Ms. Spencer, Tessa Coates’ extremely energetic and hilarious writing, Skydance and Double Dream. And then to see the immediate enthusiastic response from a beast as powerful as Amazon… It’s all just incredibly exciting, and I can’t wait to get all my teeth into it.”

This is a great team and a solid storyline. I can’t wait to watch this series when it comes out!
