Director Matt Reeves is under development Batman: Part II, but there’s so little information about what the story will entail. We’ve heard that The Penguin spin-off series will lead to the sequel, and it’s been teased that the Joker will also be involved in some way. We don’t really know what Robert PattinsonBatman will face in the next chapter of the story.
However, Hollywood insiders Daniele Richtmann reports that the film will introduce popular villain Hush to the franchise. He also says the sequel is expected to begin production in the summer of 2024.
Hush made his first appearance in 2003’s Batman #609 comic during the writer-created 12-part Hush storyline Jeph Loeb and artist Jim Lee. Hush’s true identity is Dr. Thomas Elliot, a brilliant surgeon and childhood friend of Bruce Wayne, Batman’s alter ego. Driven by jealousy and a desire for wealth and power, Elliot becomes a formidable adversary for Batman. He adopts the alias “Hush” and embarks on a complex and long-running revenge against the Dark Knight. Hush is known for his meticulous planning and ability to manipulate Batman’s various other rogues to achieve his goals. He also uses his medical expertise to orchestrate elaborate plans, and his skill in hand-to-hand combat makes him a formidable physical opponent for Batman.
Hush is a great Batman character, and one of the things I liked about the villain is that his story arc features an intricate plot, psychological warfare, and a deep exploration of the dark and personal aspects of Batman’s life. The villain is dark and in Detective Comics, Hush has surgically reconstructed his face to look like Bruce Wayne and assume Bruce’s identity, dismantle his company, kill his friends and allies, and mutilate the real Bruce’s corpse so that can get rid of Batman.
I can definitely imagine Reeves wanting to play with this villain and also use him as a way to further explore his vision of Bruce Wayne/Batman. I hope this rumor is true and I’d be interested to see how Reeves ends up incorporating the character into the story.
Speaking previously about Batman villains that Reeves would be interested in bringing into The Batman universe, he said: “There are so many [characters]. I think Hush is really interesting to do. I will choose Shut Up. That doesn’t mean next [villain] it will be silence. I just want to say there are so many. And what we will do next, what we will do next if we have the opportunity, is still in the planning stages and I have a lot of ideas. So please don’t hold on to this and say, ‘Hey, they’re making the movie Hush!'”
He added: “It’s a character that I love, that I would love to see made, and maybe we’ll have the opportunity to do that. But there are many, there are many [characters].”
If this rumor is true, then it appears that Reeves is moving forward with Hush! What do you think about the possibility of Hush being the main villain? Batman: Part II? The film is scheduled to be released in theaters on October 3, 2025.
