Zack Snyder he made it clear that he is a big fan of the hit video game franchise Fortnite, and now he says he wants to direct a film adaptation of the game. During a recent interview with And speaksthe director was asked if he would adapt Fortnite for the big screen and he responded by saying:
“Of course. I really wanted to make some Fortnite skins for the movie [Rebel Moon], first of all, just like the most evidently basic involvement. But yeah, look, Fortnite is an amazing world and it’s an amazing distraction for me. But it’s really beautiful and the chemistry they created there is really unique. When I started playing it, I thought I knew what it was, and then it was something completely different.”
Of directing the film, Snyder added, “You definitely don’t know. You definitely can never say never, that’s my mantra in this business.” Snyder previously spoke about his love for the game, saying:
“My son and I started playing Fortnite. I wanted to play it with him but then he didn’t like it, so I ended up playing it alone. I ended up in a bad rabbit hole with Fortnite, in the sense that I took a pretty deep dive deep… I was Meeseeks from Rick and Morty.”
I think that a Fortnite the film is inevitable; we only know when it will eventually happen. If he does and Snyder is involved, it will likely take some time as the director is currently focused on building his epic sci-fi franchise Rebel Moon.
Snyder isn’t the only Hollywood director he wants to direct a Fortnite movie. X fast and The Incredible Hulk director Louis Leterrier I would also like to have the opportunity to do a Fortnite movie one day. Previously you said:
“Because the game is amazing. The characters… I mean, there’s so much more to say. It would be fun. It would be action-packed and everything.”
