Prime Video has shared the first full trailer for Nicole Kidmanthe next drama series expatriateswhich was created by Lulu Wang (The farewell). It feels like a weighty series that follows “the vibrant lives of a close-knit expat community: where wealth is celebrated, friendships are intense but knowingly temporary, and personal lives, deaths, and marriages are depicted publicly, then joyfully told” .
Set in the “vibrant and tumultuous Hong Kong tapestry of 2014, expatriates centers on three American women: Margaret (Kidman), Hilary (Sarayu Blue), & Mercy (Ji-young Yoo)—whose lives intersect after a sudden family tragedy. The series interrogates privilege and explores what happens when the lines between victimhood and guilt become blurred. Brian Tee plays Margaret’s husband, Clarke, and Jack Houston plays David, Hilary’s husband.
It looks like the show will offer a beautiful and honest, yet emotional story. It will be released on Prime Video on January 26, 2024.
