Bruce Lee-inspired martial arts series WARRIOR canceled by Max

Max canceled the Bruce Lee-series inspired by martial arts Warrior after three seasons. This was a fantastic show and featured a great cast of actors. It was also one of the few shows to feature a huge Asian cast.

The series was based on Lee’s writings and the story is set during the brutal Tong Wars of San Francisco’s Chinatown in the late 19th century. It follows Ah Sahm, a martial arts prodigy who emigrates from China to San Francisco under mysterious circumstances. Ah Sahm “must choose between loyalty to his tong and commitment to his sister Mai Ling, ultimately facing a decision about what it truly means to be a Warrior. Meanwhile, the U.S. government escalates its persecution of Chinese immigrants, forcing San Francisco’s tong leaders to fight for their piece of the American dream, struggling to find a new way forward without shattering everything.”

Although the series was cancelled, it was announced that the show will be coming to Netflix, where it will surely find a whole new audience. If the series becomes a big hit on Netflix, who knows what will happen?

The cast of the series included Andrew Koji, Olivia Cheng, Jason Tobin, Dianne Doan, Kieran Bew, Dean Jagger, Tom Weston-Jones, Hoon Lee, Perry Yung, Langley Kirkwood, Miranda Raison, Chen Tang, Chelsea Muirhead, Mark Dacascos AND Joe Taslim.

The show was created and produced by Jonathan Tropper (Banshees), and is also the executive producer of Justin Lin (F9: The fast saga), Danielle WoodrowAND André Schneider. Shannon Lee also produces for Bruce Lee Entertainment.
