THE MARVELS star Iman Vellani says Marvel Studios needs to make ‘audiences care about their characters’

The wonders star Iman Vellani she’s a very well-spoken young actress and I really enjoyed the interviews she gave while doing the press rounds for her Marvel movie. She seems to have a good grasp of how Hollywood works and an understanding of what it takes to get audiences and fans excited about Marvel films.

The wonders it didn’t do very well at the box office, and while a lot of people trashed the film, there were also just as many people who liked it. One thing we know for sure is that there was a lack of enthusiasm before the film was made. I wasn’t even thrilled about it, but I ended up having more fun than I thought I would.

Vellani was recently asked what she believes Marvel Studios needs to do to reignite the hype around Marvel movies among fans that we saw a few years ago, and she believes it’s about making audiences and fans care about the characters. She told The Direct:

“I don’t know. I don’t know if it’s just about getting bigger and bigger and bigger and bigger. Because then, like, what’s left? You know, I think it’s just about making the audience care about your characters. And I think that they created so many wonderful characters in the last phase of the MCU that it would be nice to see them all again and see them team up.”

YES! It’s 100% about getting the audience to care about the characters! Fans were completely invested in Marvel characters in the early stages of the MCU, that’s why we were so excited about the films! That and they consistently told solid stories with strong production value. Since then the situation has gotten worse and people no longer have the same enthusiasm for what Marvel is doing.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 it was the last major Marvel movie centered on characters fans cared about. The next Marvel movie that will be a hit is Deadpool 3. I’m not against all these new characters that Marvel is introducing into the MCU, but they could do a better job telling stories with them.

Vellani had previously commented on the Captain Marvel of the sequel’s disappointing box office performance, and stressed that “commercial success honestly doesn’t determine the enjoyment of a film for me.”

He added: “But yeah, I mean, I’m speaking as a fan, like I’m still there every Thursday night. All the Thursday night openings of these movies… they’re just like a source of happiness for me. And honestly for me commercial success doesn’t determine enjoyment of a film. I judge a film by the emotion it leaves me with. And yes, I want to leave the film feeling a little lighter and a little happier, and I hope the audience does too.”

Marvel Studios is making an effort to change things up to get fans excited about Marvel movies again, but only time will tell if Kevin Feige he will be able to do it. I hope it does!
