SUICIDE SQUAD director David Ayer praises James Gunn for leading the charge at DC Studios

Suicide squad director David Ayer is actually a fan of James Gunn and admires him for what he has undertaken. In a recent post on Xthe director praised Gunn for his decision to co-lead the charge with DC Studios Pietro Safran. He said:

“I absolutely can’t wait to see Gunn’s Superman. I have to say it. Gunn is the bravest man in Hollywood these days. He is taking command of the toughest ship to Captain in this sector. We make films. We are entertainers. Not elected officials leading a nation. Everyone relax, please.”

After the 2016 release Suicide squad, Ayer talked about how his original vision for the film was much better than the butchered version released by Warner Bros.. Since then, some DC fans have started a #ReleaseTheAyerCut campaign to try to convince Warner Bros. to release the vision original from Ayer’s film. This is something Ayer said Gunn told him would eventually be released:

“All I know is that my unseen film works much better than the studio release. The interest in my cut on display feels real and organic. And Gunn told me it was time to share it. He absolutely deserves to launch his own DC universe without further drama over old projects.”

Ayer previously revealed her biggest heartbreak in Hollywood was Suicide squad and that making the film broke him, saying:

“Hollywood – I tell people – is like watching someone you love get fucked by someone you hate. The highlight is “Suicide Squad”. That shit destroyed me. This one kicked my ass.

He went on to tell how everything fell apart for the film:

“You come straight to ‘Fury,’ right? I had the city in my hands: I could have done anything, and I did anything, and [I] embark on this journey with [‘Suicide Squad’]. And the same thing: authentic, truthful, we do all the tests, we really get into each other’s souls. Let’s create this amazing, collaborative thing, right? And then “Deadpool” came out, right? And they never tested “Batman v. Superman,” so they expected a different result, and then they got hammered by all the critics. Then it was like, ‘Okay, now we’re going to turn David Ayer’s dark, soulful movie into a damn comedy.’”

Speaking previously about his original version of the film, the director said:

“All I know is that my unseen film works much better than the studio release. The interest in my cut on display feels real and organic. And Gunn told me it was time to share it. He absolutely deserves to launch his own DC universe without further drama over old projects. I’m kind of chained to this thing. I’m riding a tiger and dealing with this situation as best I can. Life is a very strange journey.”

Ayer was definitely screwed by this, and I hope one day, for his sake, his original vision Suicide squad It will be released.
