As you’ve heard, there’s a report that Marvel is considering reuniting the original Avengers core for a future Avengers film. There seems to be a lot of mixed feelings about carrying Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson, Robert Downey Junior., Chris Hemsworth, Jeremy RennerAND Marco Ruffalo together again. Especially since the Captain America, Iron Man, and Black Widow story arcs were wrapped up.
With the multiverse anything is possible, you can bring any of these characters back, but seriously, why would they want to reopen everything and water down the story that has been told for these characters?
While appearing on The View, Chris Evans was asked about these rumors about him returning to play Captain America, and he said:
“You know, I see those reports all the time, too, and it’s news to me. I think every couple of months, someone says they’re getting Downey, and [Chris] Hemsworth and Scarlett [Johansson], and everyone is coming back! Nobody told me about it. And look, I would never say never, but I’m very protective. It’s a very precious role for me, so it should be perfect.”
Over the years, Evans has been asked several times about the possibility of returning to the MCU and has been hesitant about the idea of revisiting the character of Steve Rogers. However, at one point Evans seemed a little more enthusiastic about the prospect, saying:
“Yes maybe. I will never say never, just because it was such a wonderful experience. But I am also very precious to it. It is something that I am very proud of. And like I said, sometimes I can’t even believe that it happened. And I wouldn’t want the black eye if it felt like a money grab or if it didn’t live up to expectations or if it just felt unconnected to that original thing. So, no time soon.”
Johansson was also recently asked about her possible return to the MCU, and she said, “I feel like [Avengers: Endgame] It’s kind of the end, right? Like, can you come back? Could he be a vampire version of the character? Because that’s what I’m here for. Like a zombie version, maybe. It would be a miracle. It would be a true Marvel miracle. It would be wonderful. But you know, who knows?”
If one day these characters end up getting together again, the place where it will most likely happen will be Avengers: Secret Wars. Do you think the characters should be reunited in the MCU?
