Hideo Kojima praises the fantastic Netflix animated series BLUE EYE SAMURAI

If you haven’t started watching Netflix Blue-eyed samurai animated series, this is a show you have to check out! It’s about five episodes in and it’s a really great show! The story and character development are incredibly strong and I love the way this epic revenge story is told.

If you don’t want to take my word for it, the series has received great reviews all round and now Metal Gear Solid and Death Stranding creator Hideo Kojima is singing its praises too. He shared on social media:

“I watched two episodes of the drama anime “BLUE EYE SAMURAI” that I had in mind for a long time! It’s amazing! Kills, scenarios, action, violence, eroticism! All the elements, colors, movements and breaths are wonderful depict ” the Japanese aspect”! This adds to the fun. A revenge drama of a blue-eyed samurai in a time of national isolation. Thematically interesting.”

The series centers on an Edo period samurai in Japan seeking revenge. It is described as a “provocative and visually stunning film series” that “immerses the viewer in a world of vivid adult animation with a live-action twist. Set in Edo period Japan, Blue Eye Samurai follows Mizu (voiced by Maya Erskine), a mixed-race sword master living a life in disguise seeking liberation from vengeance.

Blue-eyed samurai will feature an impressive voice cast that includes Giorgio Takei, Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa, Masi Oka, Randall Park, Darren BarnettAND Brenda Song.

The series was created by Michele Verde (Logan, Blade Runner 2024) AND Amber Noizumiwho shared in a statement: “Our story is an extraordinary action adventure that takes place 400 years ago, but the themes of Blue Eye Samurai are timely and the inspiration is deeply personal. We are grateful for Netflix’s passion for this story and for their bold vision of a sophisticated animated drama.”

The producers also intervened Mulan director Jane Wu to help develop the series. You need to watch this show if you haven’t already! If you watched it, you can rave about it below in the comments!
