Jenna Ortega drops out of SCREAM 7 apparently due to a WEDNESDAY scheduling conflict

THE He shouted the movie franchise is going through major headaches right now. Not long after He shouted reboot franchise star Melissa Barrara was fired from Spyglass Media for comments made on social media about the Israel-Hamas conflict, Jenna Ortega he is now walking away from the franchise and will never return Screams 7.

The news comes from Deadline, which is keen to say that Ortege’s exit has nothing to do with the consequences of Melissa Barrera’s dismissal. They claim it is due to a scheduling conflict with Wednesday Season 2.

The report explains that “Ortega’s exit from the upcoming Scream was discussed before the actors’ strike. A script for Scream VII isn’t ready yet, and the Primetime Emmy nominee is due to travel to Ireland in April to film the second season of Netflix Wednesday which will run through the summer. Furthermore, Beetlejuice after the SAG-AFTRA strike had a few more days of filming to meet its Labor Day 2024 theatrical release.

No production date is set Screams 7 however, so it’s strange to me that they use scheduling issues as an excuse. Whatever they had in terms of story would have to be reworked with Barrea’s exit anyway, so it’ll be a while before they get rolling.

At the same time, I think it made it easier for Ortega to walk away from the franchise with Barrera’s firing. Regardless, Ortega’s career is taking off right now and he could pretty much star in any project he wants coming his way.

Screams 7 is directed by Christopher Landon (Happy Death Day, Freaky) and now he certainly has his work cut out for him.
