A couple of years ago it was announced that Aspyr was developing a remake Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic. Many fans were excited about it, and if you were one of them, prepare for disappointment! A report has surfaced that the remake is no longer in active development.
The news comes from Insider Gaming, Jeff Grubb, an insider in the video game industry, who revealed during the latest episode of Giant Bomb’s Game Mess Mornings show:
“I just want to clarify, this game is not being worked on right now. Enough, period. No studio is working on this game in any way.”
Grubb went on to add:
“I looked into it a little. I don’t think this is news to most of you, I think you guys can piece it together if you’ve listened to this and Sony has gone away and deleted mentions of Knights of the Old Republic from social media and YouTube. I think you can put two and two together, but just to confirm it 100%, we are not working on this game at this time.”
So that’s a big shame! According to IGN, the game’s development was stalled last year after the Aspyr demo Knights of the Ancient Republic the remake “wasn’t as successful as it could have been when shown to Lucasfilm and Sony.”
The game’s art director Brad Prince and design director Jason Minor both ended up leaving the project shortly after, while the project went from one different developer to another before finally landing at Saber Interactive. But I guess things didn’t work out there either.
