Mark Ruffalo claims to be the producers of the Paramount Pictures serial killer drama Zodiac were not exactly keen pursuers.
In the 2007 film, Ruffalo plays a police officer who becomes involved in the hunt for a notorious serial killer. Ruffalo’s record didn’t matter much at the time.
“Studios, they didn’t come to me like that,” Ruffalo told High Snobiety about his career at the time. “I will never forget how they negotiated my deal [for ‘Zodiac’]The studio negotiator literally told my manager, ‘Look, we don’t care about Mark Ruffalo, we don’t even want Mark Ruffalo in this movie, so take what we’re giving you or leave it.’
The actor admitted that he used to feel typecast by his romantic comedy performances Zodiac.
“What I immediately felt in the film world is that if you’ve done something well, they think you are too. They will keep coming back to you with this piece. And I thought, “No.” This is not going to be my career. I will do everything I can to make sure that people see me in different ways so that I can do more as the years go by.”
Ruffalo got his wish by playing the Hulk in the Avengers films.
