CNN Flashdocs and MAX have released a trailer for their documentary Out on a limbwhich tells NFL player Michael Oher’s version of the story, which was changed and told in the film, The blind side. In the acclaimed book and 2009 blockbuster film, the wealthy family of Sean and Leigh Anne Tuohy brought Oher into their home and helped him forge his path to the NFL. Now, Oher claims he was led to believe he was adopted, but in reality the Tuohys filed for guardianship and made millions from a false narrative.
The documentary examines the claims made by the Tuohy family about Oher’s adoption for more than a decade, carefully examining the guardianship they put in place that has now been revoked by a judge. Oher’s dispute with the Tuohys continues, with the Tuohys filing a sworn document on Nov. 8 alleging they paid Oher more than $138,000 in profits from the film. Oher is expected to file any counterclaims by the end of November.
