COYOTE VS. ACME composers criticize Warner Bros. for scrapping films, calling them ‘anti-art studio’

Last week we learned that Warner Bros. had canceled another of its completed projects with the Looney Tunes movie Coyotes vs. Acme. It was a strange move that doesn’t seem to make sense since people who have seen it have said it’s a really good movie.

The production of the film was completed last year with the director Dave Green. He acted John Cena and co-head of DC Studios James Gunn he produced the feature film and worked on the story. Cena was supposed to play the role of the president of ACME Corporation and other cast members included Will Forte (SNL, MacGruber) e Lana Condor (Tor All the Boys, Alita: Battle Angel).

Now, the composer of the film, Steven Pricewhich won the Oscar for Best Original Score for Severity, came out to criticize the studio and CEO David Zaslav’s cost-cutting administration, calling them an “anti-art studio.” He said:

“I had a lot of fun making the Coyote Vs Acme soundtrack. Since no one will be able to hear it now, due to bizarre anti-art studio financial shenanigans that I’ll never understand, here’s some behind-the-scenes footage of our Roadrunner chorus “Meep Meep,” with apologies to Tchaikovsky…”

You can watch the clip he shared in the X below:

Price also added, “The animation was totally complete and looked fantastic. The whole film mixed and finished…” as well as “This sure is weird! Good movie, erased from existence…”.

The director of the film also took to X to share his thoughts on the film and its outcome saying:

“For three years I was fortunate to make a film about Wile E. Coyote, the most persistent, passionate and resilient character of all time. I was surrounded by a brilliant team, who put their soul into this project for years.”

He went on to talk about the test audiences who saw the film, saying, “We were greeted by test audiences who rewarded us with fantastic scores… and were also devastated by WB’s decision.”

British composer Daniel Pemberton who worked on soundtracks for films such as The eight of the ocean, Bird of prey AND UNCLE’s man he also lashed out against the Studio, saying:

“Not only is this behavior terrible, but any decent creative will think twice about signing away huge chunks of their life to throw everything they have into a project from studios who seem pretty cavalier about letting that work be seen… WB chimes in a terrible long game.”

He makes a really good point. Why dedicate years of your life to developing something that the studio will then throw away!? If it can happen to a film like Coyotes vs. Acme, which turned out to be a good movie that people enjoyed watching, it could happen to any movie! WB is still a crazy studio making ridiculous decisions.
