Sony Pictures has shared a teaser trailer for the upcoming film The Garfield Moviewhat stars Chris Pratt as the adorable lasagna-loving orange cat. I was a big fan of Garfield comics and animated specials when I was a kid. I particularly liked his sarcastic wit. Unfortunately, this film doesn’t seem to capture the true spirit of the character or stories and sees the character involved in a “high-stakes heist”.
In the film, “Garfield, the world-famous, Monday-hating, lasagna-loving house cat, is about to have a wild outdoor adventure! After an unexpected reunion with his long-lost father, scruffy street cat Vic (Samuel L. Jackson) – Garfield and his canine friend Odie are forced to abandon their perfectly pampered life to join Vic on a hilarious, high-stakes heist.
The film doesn’t look or feel like it’s telling a Garfield history. Yes, it features the same characters and some character attributes, but it feels like a typical Hollywood animated film that doesn’t do anything special or unique.
The film has a fun voice cast, however, which includes Nicholas Hoult, Cecilia Forte, Hannah Waddingham, Brett Goldstein, Bowen YangAND Ving Rames.
The Garfield Movie is directed by Marco Dindal (Cats don’t dance, the emperor’s madnessAND Little chicken). The film is based on Garfield characters originally created by Jim Davis. It will be released in theaters on May 24, 2024.
