Documentary “Commitment To Life” about HIV/AIDS mobilization in LA, acquired by NBCUniversal

NBCUniversal took over Commitment to life, a documentary about the fight against the HIV/AIDS epidemic. The film by Emmy-winning documentary filmmaker Jeremy Schwarz (Vito) premieres on Peacock on December 1, World AIDS Day. The cable network debut will take place on MSNBC in early 2024.

When AIDS first appeared in the United States in the early 1980s, Los Angeles was one of the cities directly affected. The documentary shows how the gay community and their allies in LA mobilized to fight the disease, despite a lack of funding, intense fear of AIDS, and a Washington government that was politically unwilling to confront the epidemic.

The film had its world premiere at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival. Watch the trailer above.
