Review: THE MARVELS is a surprisingly fun and delightful adventure

In the early years of Marvel films, the Marvel Cinematic Universe became synonymous with epic storytelling, fantastic action, and memorable characters loved by fans. In recent years some fans felt that the studio had started to lose some of its appeal. Well, the latest Marvel movie, The wondersit actually turned out much better than I expected and delivers an exciting, action-packed, and surprisingly tight narrative that will leave fans eagerly anticipating the future of the MCU.

Ahead of the film’s release, Marvel has promised a big moment where fans will have to “be there for the moment that changes everything.” I won’t spoil what that moment is, but I will say that it doesn’t come until the post-credits scene. However, yes… it’s a game-changer that will no doubt have fans buzzing and speculating about what will happen next. There has been a lot of rumors and speculation about this moment and you will soon experience it for yourself.

At the center of the film is the charismatic and captivating Kamala Khan, played with infectious energy by Iman Vellani. Kamala’s journey is a key aspect of The wonders, and his character brings a refreshing and fun dynamic to the story. The character is the heart of the story and represents the next generation of heroes in the MCU.

Brie Larson reprises her role as Carol Danvers, aka Captain Marvel, and the film shows the evolution of the character and offers further insights into her past and what she has done over the years. Her backstory is key to what ignites the villain’s motivations. Teyonah Parris she also returns as Monica Rambeau, and the film definitely takes her story arc in an interesting direction that audiences probably won’t see coming. There really is a charming and fun dynamic between Kamala, Carol and Monica. Obviously, Samuel L. JacksonNick Fury is, as always, a scene stealer.

One of the most disappointing aspects of the film was the how Zawe AshtonThe Dar-Benn villain was handled. The character development was disappointing and unfortunately falls flat compared to some of the other MCU villains. Dar-Benn’s motivations and backstory felt rushed, and it’s disappointing that the antagonist’s journey wasn’t given more depth and nuance, as he could have added another layer of complexity to the narrative. Ashton gives a good performance, but unfortunately the character is one of the weakest aspects of the film. There are a few other things that didn’t quite work, but for me they didn’t kill the fun factor of the film.

Nia Da Costa’s direction is strong and his vision brings out the best in the characters and action sequences, making The Marvels a visually interesting and engaging experience. I also enjoyed the humor and charm he infused into the story. He made a much better film than the first Captain Marvel movie.

Producer Kevin Feige continues to weave the threads of the MCU together, ensuring that The wonders fits perfectly into the larger tapestry of this cinematic universe. It’s clear that Marvel Studios has a plan for the future, and this film opens a big and exciting door for what’s to come.

Initially I wasn’t really thrilled about it The wondersbut it exceeded my expectations and delivers a thrilling, action-packed adventure that promises exciting developments for the MCU and will leave fans eagerly anticipating what comes next.
