GAME OF THRONES spin-off scripts are always in development at HBO

Since the flagship game of Thrones The series has come to an end, HBO wanted to develop spin-off projects. Several spin-off projects have been developed over the years, but only a couple have actually made it to production. House of the Dragon was the first major spin-off and is awaiting its second season. The other project that was officially announced was A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: The Knight Erranton which it is based George R. R. Martin’S Tales of Dunk and Egg. There was also a prequel series with Naomi Watts filming a pilot episode that was ultimately cancelled.

Many other projects that have been mentioned over the years, including Kit HarringtonThe Jon Snow series weren’t actually made, but HBO hasn’t stopped developing more Game of Thrones series. Indeed, according to the CEO and president of HBO Casey Bloys, they always have scripts in development. He told TV Line:

“We always have Game of Thrones scripts in development. We greenlit Dunk and Egg in the spring. I wouldn’t say there’s anything else in that world that’s close to the green light or anything like that, but we’re always working on different scripts and ideas.

A couple of years ago, Bloys explained that the Game of Thrones spinoff concepts moving forward would be the ones with the strongest attributes:

“Obviously we know that George has this incredible world with all this really rich and complicated history and all these characters. So we tried to reflect on what stories are worth telling. What would be exciting? What would fans appreciate? He said. “Dunk and Egg is one of them, but not the only one.”

While there are no other Game of Thrones projects that are close to being greenlit, it seems they’re always on the lookout for the next one that will touch them. They have two game of Thrones series that they are actively developing and that should suffice until one of them comes to an end.
