The Incredible Hulk director Louis Leterrier recently revealed an interesting little insight into the film and how Edward Norton he wanted Radiohead to do the soundtrack for the film. That would have been really cool! Leterrier shared on a recent episode of the Happy Sad Confused podcast:
“Edward is a great friend of Thom Yorke. He wanted Radiohead to make music, and that was brilliant. We know what Radiohead sounds like and I think Marvel was pushing for something more than the typical Hollywood soundtrack. We thought – not a compromise – but what we thought was the elegant middle ground was to find Craig Armstrong, who had worked with Massive Attack, to create the soundtrack, which is haunting.”
So, in the end, Radiohead didn’t do the soundtrack for The Incredible Hulk, but the acoustic version of Creep was featured in James Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. 3. I would have liked to see what Radiohead would have done with the Incredible Hulk soundtrack. It’s a shame that Marvel was trying to stick with something more traditional.
Yorke went on to make some film soundtracks by providing music for the 2018 remake of Suspiria. Johnny Greenwoodalso marked 2007 There will be blood before getting some Oscar nominations for creating the music for the 2017s Ghost thread and 2021 The power of the dog.
