Last week we learned of the actor’s untimely death Matthew Perry, and while many people have shared their thoughts and memories about him, a friend of his is now opening up about Perry’s hopes of making a biopic about his life. Perry’s close confidante, Athenna Crosby, recently told Entertainment Tonight Canada that she met Perry for lunch the day before his unexpected passing on Oct. 28 at age 54.
According to Crosby, Perry was hoping to get a biopic about his life off the ground and was even toying with the idea of having one Zac Efron act like him.
“He said he wanted to make a movie about his life,” Crosby said. “And she had worked with Zac Efron on a film in the past. He said that he wanted Zac Efron to play him in the younger version and that he would ask him to do it soon.
He went on to add:
“He was looking forward to sharing more about his story and his recovery from addiction, and really supporting that cause to help more people. So she was so optimistic and happy with everything she wanted to do.
Perry co-starred with Efron in the 2009 teen fantasy comedy 17 again, in which Perry’s character is magically transformed back into his 17-year-old self. The two actors played the same character at different ages.
