Star Wars actress Margaret Ridley will be the protagonist of the next survival thriller We bury the deadby the director Zak Hilditchwho directed the Stephen King adaptation 1922. The film is a story about grief, loss and the undead. Ridley plays Ava, a desperate woman whose husband has disappeared following a catastrophic military experiment. Hoping to find him alive, Ava joins a “body recovery unit,” but the search for her takes a chilling turn when the corpses she’s burying begin to show signs of life.
We bury the dead is written and directed by Hilditch and produced by Kelvin Munro and Grant Sputore of The Penguin Empire, who produced I am Motherand Ross Dinerstein of Campfire Studios, which is producing the upcoming Netflix film Players.
Ridley will be seen next The swamp king’s daughterwith protagonist in front Ben Mendelsohn for director Neil Burger; Young woman and the sea by the director Joachim Rønning; AND Sometimes I think I’m dyingin which Ridley starred and produced.
Filming for We bury the dead will begin in February 2024 in Western Australia.
