The film is based on “an unsolved mystery that took place on a remote island in the Galapagos, the film charts the lengths to which humans are willing to go in the pursuit of happiness.” It is inspired by two different accounts of the same true story, and the film is described as “a darkly comic tale of murder and survival, set around a group of eclectic characters who abandon civilization for the Galapagos. They are all searching for the answer to that ever-urgent question that plagues us all: what is the meaning of life.”
Howard has wanted to tell the story for 15 years. He was inspired to make it after first visiting the Galapagos Island where the real-life events took place. The film will explore “the human condition in unexpected, absurd, funny, sexy, but above all thrilling and suspenseful ways.”

Howard will shoot the film in Queensland, Australia, with a small unit in the Galapagos. Howard’s latest film, the Thai cave rescue thriller Thirteen livesit was also filmed in Queensland.
