Michael Fassbender (The Assassin, X-Men) will be the protagonist of a biopic about an Irish rap group, and it will be called Patella, named after the band. The film is described as “a raucous anti-establishment comedy”.
The film will also feature real-life band members Mo Chara, Móglaí Bap AND DJ I tried as “enhanced versions of themselves”. If you’re not familiar with the band, they “rose to fame in 2018 for their blend of Irish nationalist rap that often addressed the stark reality of growing up in Northern Ireland after the civil conflict known as the Troubles.”

The film will be written and directed by Rich Peppiatt, who also directed a music video for the band. He said in a statement: “For those who already know Kneecap as musicians, I promise this will be a film true to their hedonistic and anarchic soul. And for those who haven’t heard of Kneecap yet, well, buckle up….”
