There hasn’t been much movement on any major productions in Hollywood over the past few months due to writers’ and actors’ strikes. With projects stalled, it means productions have to be postponed.
Marvel Studios has several projects in development, including Spider-Man 4which was being worked on before the strikes. Spider-Man: Homecoming, Spider-Man: Far From HomeAND Spider-Man: No Way Home writers Chris McKenna AND Erik Sommers have returned to work on the next chapter of Spidermanand with the end of the writers’ strike, they will most likely return to work.
Hollywood Insider Daniele Richtmann recently offered an update on the project and said that Spider-Man 4 is currently looking at starting production in late 2024. That seems about right, given everything that’s going on, but I think Marvel and Sony have yet to find their star principal, Tom Hollandand there will be no movement on it until the actors’ strike is over.
In a previous interview with Holland, he explained that he sat down with the president of Marvel Studios Kevin Feigeproducer Amy Pascaland other executives to start figuring out what they want to do with a fourth movie and whether it’s something they should do.
They found a reason to move forward, but at the same time Holland also says there’s a part of him that wants to distance himself from Spider-Man. He said, “It was me, Amy, [Marvel Studios president] Kevin Feige, [executive producer] Rachel [O’Connor], other Marvel executives sometimes chime in. It’s a collaborative process. The first meetings were about, “Why should we do this again?” And I think we’ve found the reason why. I’m really, really happy with where we are creatively.”
He went on to explain that he’s still a little worried about it: “But I’m also a little worried about it. There’s a little bit of a stigma around the fourth across all franchises. I feel like we hit a home run with our first franchise and there’s a part of me that wants to walk away with my head held high and pass the torch to the next lucky guy who gets to bring this character to life.”
Even if he has these feelings, I have no doubt he’ll be back for more Spider-Man action. Story-wise, there are rumors that Spider-Man 4 will serve as a sequel Daredevil: Born Again, and which would see Spider-Man team up with Daredevil to defeat The Kingpin. While I love this idea, I personally don’t think this is the direction Marvel and Sony are going to go in, because it’s too good. We’ll just have to wait and see, though.
Independently, Spider-Man 4 It won’t be released in theaters until 2026, but fans will be ready when it arrives! What would you like to see in the fourth Spider-Man movie?
