Amazon Studios is partnering with Emily Blunt AND Dwayne Johnson for a new action-adventure crime film inspired by Kate Warne, the first woman to become a Pinkerton Agency detective.

Blunt will play the role of Warne, “a true Sherlock Holmes in a male-dominated industry, whose singular investigative skills paved the way for future women in law enforcement and forever changed the way the job was done investigative”.

Dwayne Johnson is producing the film Black Adam AND Jungle cruise director Jaume Collet-Serra put at the helm. The screenplay was written by Gustin Nashwho worked on films like Youth in revolt AND Charlie Bartlett.

There aren’t really any other details to share, but it sounds like it’ll be a great character for Blunt to play!

Kate Warne was hired by Allan Pinkerton in 1856, broke gender barriers in a male-dominated profession, and went on to play key roles in various cases. Most notably, she was instrumental in uncovering the Baltimore Plot, a conspiracy to assassinate President-elect Abraham Lincoln in 1861. Posing as a Southern belle, she gathered critical intelligence that later helped safely escort Lincoln to his inauguration in Washington, DC.

Throughout his career, Warne has used his unique skills and abilities to handle undercover roles. Her contributions set the stage for other women to join the profession and left an indelible mark on the history of American law enforcement.
