Paramount Pictures has released a new promotional video for Martin Scorsese’S The assassins of the Flower Moon. This video offers detailed information Leonardo Dicaprioin the story, Ernest Burkhart, directed by his uncle, starring Robert De Niroto marry Lily Gladstoneis Mollie Kyle as a way to take over her family’s wealth.
The video includes interviews with the cast and crew, and DiCaprio says his character is a “representation of the incredible greed of that time.” It also contains new footage from the film showing the terrible things Ernest is willing to do for money. As you can imagine, this will not have a good outcome.
The film is based on David Grann’, “Killers of the Flower Moon: The Osage Murders and the Birth of the FBI”, and the story is set in 1920s Oklahoma. It describes the serial murders of members of the oil-rich Osage nation, a series of brutal crimes that became known as the Reign of Terror. Here is a description of the story:
In the late nineteenth century, the Osage Indians were driven to a supposedly worthless expanse of land in northeastern Oklahoma. But it turned out that their territory sat atop one of the largest oil fields in the United States; to obtain that oil, prospectors had to pay rents and royalties to the tribe. By the 1920s, members of the Osage Nation had become the richest people per capita in the world. And then the Osage began to die under mysterious circumstances.
DiCaprio stars in the film as Ernest Burkhart and Gladstone she plays Mollie Burkhart, an Osage married to Ernest, grandson of a powerful local rancher, played by De Niro. Brendan Fraser (The Mummy) e Jesse Plemon (Antlers) also stars in the film.
