As we continue to wait Invincible The second season will be released, the creator of the show, Robert Kirkmann, continues to tease what the next chapter will entail. In a recent interview, Kirkman talks about the aftermath of the brutal battle between Omni-Man and Mark and how the fallout between them will affect the upcoming season.
As you know, Omni-Man almost killed his son, and as you can imagine, this nightmarish experience left Mark and his mother in chaos. Their lives have been completely turned upside down and they are left to pick up the pieces of their lives.
During an interview with IGN, Kirkman talked about everything that will be explored in season two, saying:
“I think we hit the ground running with a lot of chaos. Mark and Debbie are dealing with a huge betrayal from Nolan and his absence on the planet is something that’s affecting them deeply. Mark is in this place where he was on this journey to become this superhero, and everything seemed to be going really well. Now, he’s been shaken to the core.” But that’s just the beginning of Mark’s problems as Kirkman also teased how Mark needs to assert himself even more against new threats.
“Aside from the betrayal, he also remained the last line of defense on Earth. He’s the only one strong enough to actually replace Nolan, so he pushed himself further into this world of superheroes that he may not be fully prepared for, and there’s no ‘there is an end to the conflict that is simmering on the planet and which is attacking it relentlessly.”
The next season will definitely be interesting and I hope the narrative is as strong as the first season. Kirkman was also asked about the return of Omni-Man, and he said:
“The less said about Nolan, I think the better at this point. I’m just saying, I wouldn’t bet on us going the whole season without seeing him. He’ll probably pop up when you least expect him, and he might show up in ways that you wouldn’t necessarily expect. So , I think I’ve said all I can say.”
Kirkman has already spoken about his overall goals for the series and in the meantime has revealed the number of planned seasons he wants the show to run to tell its story. He explained:
“I’m trying not to reduce it to a number, because it’s kind of a moving target. I think seven to eight seasons seems to be enough. But there may be some things that we advance a little faster, some things that we expand. If we’re lucky enough to last long, I think it would be enough to cover the entire comic. And there are some things along the way that didn’t make it into the comic that I’d like to do. I think it would be nice to have a few episodes here and there that are completely original. So that’s part of the plan moving forward.
Invincible revolves around 17-year-old Mark Grayson (Steven Yeun), who is just like every other boy his age, except his father is the most powerful superhero on the planet, Omni-Man (JK Simmons). The season 1 finale was crazy as it ended with the reveal of Omni-Man’s true twisted intentions. I’m excited to see how the story continues to unfold in Season 2!
The series is also the protagonist Sandra Oh, Zazie Beetz, Gillian Jacobs, Zechariah Quintus, Jason Mantzoukas, Melise, Marco Hamill, Mahershala Ali, Seth Rogenand more.
The second season of Invincible will arrive on Amazon Prime on November 3 this year.
