You didn’t think I saw X it would be the last Saw horror movie, right? Obviously not! You know better and, of course, the producers are already talking about the next chapter of the franchise.
Producer Oren Koules recently confirmed in an interview with CB that he and producer Marco Burg they also started discussing where the Saw franchise might go after this film. Koules said:
“We’re a little superstitious. We tend not to get too far ahead of ourselves. The film will be released in a few days. As for us, we have ideas for the next one, we haven’t put pen to paper. But this is his story, we really wanted it to be John Kramer’s story and tell a John Kramer story. So for the first 30 minutes of the movie he’s John Kramer, there’s no mention of Jigsaw at all.”
Where do you think the franchise might go after the events of the next film?
I saw X it’s actually doing something different and unique with the franchise, which I like. This film is set between the events of Saw I and II and follows the story of “a sick and desperate John who travels to Mexico to undergo a risky and experimental medical procedure in hopes of a miracle cure for his cancer – only to find out that the whole operation is a complicated operation.” scam to defraud the most vulnerable. The infamous assassin returns to his work, turning the tables on crooks in his signature visceral way through devious, deranged and ingenious traps.
The film’s goal is to make a film that “captures everything Saw fans love about the franchise, while also keeping them guessing with new traps and a new mystery to solve.”
The film is directed by Kevin Greutert and the cast for I saw X includes Tobin Bell as John Kramer, aka Jigsaw Renata Vaca (Midnight family), Paulette Hernandez (Crown of tears), Joshua Okamoto (Control-Z), Ottavio Hinojosa (Come play with me), Synnove Macody Lund (Ragnarok), Steven Brand (The Sandman) AND Michele Spiaggia (Dahmer).
