HEY! Looks like we actually have a trailer for Hayao Miyazaki’S The boy and the heron anime movie after all! As you know, Studio Ghibli intended not to do any marketing for the film, and when Gkids picked it up for American distribution, they were told they would go with that strategy. Well, looks like plans have changed.
The new trailer showcases the beautiful animation and visually stunning images. Miyazaki drew much of this film himself, which is great. He’s been working on this film for years and it looks like it’s going to be an incredible final film for the director. I love his animation style, I love real hand drawn animation and Miyazaki kept it alive in the best shape of him.
The official synopsis of the film reads: “Through encounters with his friends and his uncle, the story follows the psychological development of a teenager. He enters a magical world with a talking gray heron after finding an abandoned tower in his new town.
The film features the voices of Soma Santoki, Masaki Suda (The stagnation), singer Aimyon, Yoshino Kimura (Confessions), Shohei Hino (As long as we both live), Ko Shibasaki (47 Ronins), Takuya Kimura (Howl’s Moving Castle) and more.
We still don’t know when the movie will be released, but after seeing this trailer, I’m even more excited to see the movie! I’m happy to see that they have actually released a trailer for the movie. Movie marketing is important if you really want people to go out and see them!
