Succession was an incredibly well-crafted drama series on HBO. It definitely wasn’t for everyone, but the thing I liked the most were the characters. The show features some really great character development.
I thought the show also had a strong ending and though I didn’t notice any mistakes, director Marco Mylod he’s still incredibly annoyed by a moment in the show’s final season. He doesn’t reveal what the moment is, but explains that it was a missed opportunity that he’s kicking himself for. He said during an interview with Variety’s Awards Circuit podcast:
“I’m going to kick myself. And I’m not going to get any pleasure from the things that maybe worked out right. They’re the mistakes you made, or the things you could have done better at the time you missed out. There’s something that bothers me. missed in one of the fourth season episodes, it’s not necessarily a mistake, but it’s an opportunity to have taken an extra moment. And it kills me. It eats me up and it’s way too raw right now to admit it. It.”
I wish he would just say what it is so we would know what he was thinking! He’s really the only one who knows what he’s talking about and I just want the details. You can watch Season 4 over and over and you’ll probably never be able to point out what he’s talking about.
A note to the director: If you’re going to let everyone know that there’s something that really bugs you about the show that you wish you’d done differently, go ahead and tell us what it is! Because now you’re just kidding the fans.
The final season of Succession was critically acclaimed and received 27 Emmy nominations, including a record number of lead actor nominations.
In the series, “Though he has no intention of stepping down as head of Waystar Royco, the international media conglomerate controlled by his family, aging patriarch Logan Roy is contemplating what the future holds. He’s been in the spotlight longer than he realized, and now family members want to run the business however they see fit. Despite the well-conceived succession plan, tempers flare over Logan’s intentions. Kendall Roy, Logan’s eldest son from his second marriage and president of the company’s division, is the heir apparent. As Kendall attempts to solidify his eventual takeover, he and his three other Roy children face a difficult choice as control of the business and family loyalties collide.
