STAR WARS: THE ACOLYTE Showrunner Says Series Will Feature More Jedi Than We’ve Ever Seen Before

THE Star Wars series The Acolyte is headed to Disney+ next year and will cover a whole new time period in Star Wars history that fans have never been able to delve into before. The showrunner of the series Leslye Promontory she recently appeared on the Dagobah Dispatch podcast, and opened up about her upcoming series and how setting the timeline at the end of the High Republic has allowed far more Force users to show up.

“I’d say The Acolyte stands out because it’s the earliest in the Star Wars timeline that we’ve ever been in live-action. We’re nearing the end of the High Republic, bringing in the prequels, George [Lucas]the prequels. So we’re looking at a time period where the Jedi are at the height of their power, we’re looking at a time period where there’s peace across the galaxy, and it’s been very challenging and interesting to make Star Wars without the war inside. “

He went on to add:

“However, the question became, ‘Well, what is the show supposed to be about if it’s not about a galactic conflict?’ And I think what makes this show different and interesting is that it’s from the point of view of the villains or villains of Star Wars These are people who use the Force in their own way, diving into the darker side of the Force, and they’re doing without being sanctioned by the larger institution, which in this case is the Jedi. And I think Star Wars is always about a version of the underdog versus the institution.”

Headland went on to say so The Acolyte will set a record for Star Wars in terms of how many Jedi actually appear on camera. No other project has seen as many Force-wielding characters.

“And I just thought it was very interesting to do a show about villains and to set it during that time period made more sense. So I think that’s what sets it apart. It’s kind of flipped. Star Wars. But at the same time, I think you’re seeing more morally ambiguous characters than you’ve seen in other Star Wars content. And I think I can say it with confidence: I don’t think you’re going to see the action in other shows the way you which you see it used and used in our show”.

It will be nice to see a new Jedi-centric story told that takes place before anything we’ve seen before. The Acolyte is coming to Disney+ in 2024. Can’t wait for this series to come out?
