As you know, both the writers’ and actors’ unions are on strike and virtually every high-profile project developing in Hollywood has been halted. These include all Marvel Studios productions such as Deadpool 3, Daredevil: Born Again, Agatha: Coven of Choas, Captain America: Brave New World, Wonder ManAND Lightning. It’s a pretty crazy time right now in Hollywood!
Heads of Marvel Studios Kevin Feige AND Louis D’Esposito they went ahead and issued a joint statement to their staff addressing production delays caused by the simultaneous strikes by WGA and SAG-AFTRA. They are obviously disappointed by the delays, but at the same time they recognize that these challenges are part of the business. They said:
“We recognize how much you have all done for your specific projects and it is disappointing when carefully laid out plans need to change, but constant change is the nature of the manufacturing business and our teams are no strangers to unexpected challenges and rise to meet them. We appreciate deeply all your efforts to make the best of the situation and we can all hope that a new deal will be finalized soon so that we can resume the great work we have underway.
I am sure that one day the unions can make a deal they are happy with and get back to work. But that may not happen anytime soon. It seems the two sides are so far apart on things that coming to some sort of compromise is going to be difficult and take some time. This is important, the writers and actors are in it for the long haul.
