IFC Films has released a trailer for a super dark and shocking horror film titled Birth/rebirth. I had a chance to watch this movie and Sundance earlier this year, and it was telling a seriously sinister story and it was twisted. The film focuses on bringing a little girl back to life after her death and the consequences that follow.
In the movie Pink (Marine Ireland) “is a pathologist who prefers to work with cadavers rather than social interaction. He also has an obsession: reanimating the dead. Celia (Judy Reyes) is a maternity nurse who has built her life around her lively and chatty six-year-old daughter, Lila (AJ Lister). When one tragic night, Lila suddenly falls ill and dies, the two female worlds collide. They embark on a dark path of no return where they will be forced to confront how far they are willing to go to protect what they hold most dear.
In Corrin’s review of the film, he said, “As you can probably imagine, there’s a lot of blood and needles and medical procedures in this film. While light on the scary jumps, there’s plenty of Cronenberg-style body horror to keep you on the edge of your seat (or face buried in your hands.)”
The film comes from the director Laura Mosswhich “reinvents Mary ShelleyThe classic myth of horror Frankenstein with such a contemporary understanding that it becomes something exciting, terrifying and singularly new.
The film will be released on August 18.
